(1) Treatment of metabolic acidosis.(2) Alkalinization of urine. It is used for the prevention of uric acid kidney stones, reducing the nephrotoxicity of sulfonamide drugs and other similar drugs, and preventing hemoglobin deposition in renal tubules during acute hemolysis.(3) As an antacid, it is used to treat symptoms caused by excessive gastric acid.(4) Intravenous infusion has a non-specific therapeutic effect on poisoning caused by certain drugs, such as poisoning by barbiturates, salicylic acid drugs and methanol.
